Forgive me. For some reason Another Saturday Night by Sam Cooke just popped into my head. I love Sam Cooke but really me and single hood are okay with each other right now. Anyhoo, wash day went pretty smoothly today. I got up and did a bunch of nothing. Then ran to the gym. 45 minutes of good sweating and then I grabbed dinner for mom and I, well lunch and dinner, and then came home. My body is fighting my brain sometimes with the working out. Sometimes not, like today I was really tired and just wanted to go home. It felt like a shin splint was flaring up and I really just wanted to hop off. Then all of a sudden a wave of good feeling hit and then the right music came on the Zune and it was on a popping. Before I know it 20 of the 30 minutes I had set on the treadmill were done. I did the full thirty and contemplated doing the back workout again but opted to believe the trainer and put a day between muscle sessions. I then hopped on the bike and did 15 minutes on that before calling it a workout day. I feel great when I leave the gym, even when I get rained on trying to get in and out. Good thing I was coming home to do my hair.
Wash day consisted of:
Strong Roots Red Pimento Oil on scalp
Two deep conditioners on the length of my hair
All left under a cap for about 2 hours
Wash like normal with the spin of the Shiny Silver to remove any more yellow tinting on the gray
Quick post wash deep conditioner
About 40 minutes of air drying before adding leave ins and oil to trap the moisture
Wrapped on flexi rods and under my bonnet now
I finished about four hours ago so I SHOULD be dry when I wake up in the morning. And another minimal hair loss day.
Since we had Matchbox 20 this morning, here's a Ice Cube clip for the evening.
The insomnia was still winning but I didn't sleep as late as I could have. I got up eventually and made sure everything got in the mail. I fell back asleep cause I got a migraine that wouldn't stop--only for a nap though. I got up and made the rest of the delicious fajitas I had marinating. I graded the papers for my large class, I'll do the smaller class in the morning. I have started washing clothes cause yeah all the cute lady gear is dirty. I finally got off my lazy butt and worked out for a full 34 minutes after I put on my new sports bra. Thanks to glamorise and Amazon for hooking me up. All of my past sports bras have just created that huge uniboob and a few good workouts and washes later they are useless when you get to my cup size. This one is fitted to your actual cup size and that whole no bounce in the title TOTALLY holds up. I love this bra. My chest never ever felt like it was in the way and when you get to my cup size that's a MAJOR accomplishment. Click here if you would like to see it at the Glamorise website. Or you can search for
Glamorise Women's No Bounce Full Support Sport Bra at Amazon or any other site you can get a hookup with. EDIT: had to come back to add if you were looking for this bra, which at 27 on amazon isn't a bad deal that there's a slightly better one on right now. Freshpair.com is currently running a promotion that gives you 20 percent off whatever you order as long as you give them your email address. The bras on the site are 25.19 or so unless you are in the big girl cups like myself which made them the same price on Amazon but with 20 percent off that made each bra 21 bucks or so WITH FREE SHIPPING. Yeah free shipping.
Oh and if anyone wants the marinade it's below:
About half a bunch of fresh cilantro
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup lime juice
1 tablespoon of Simply Asia Sweet and Spicy Hibachi seasoning blend--if you can't find it any mix of semi spicy blend would work
First let me give some love to Matchbox 20 for writing a catchy tune that I totally bastardized to give you that blog title.
And yes I know this will say 4AM central time when I post this and it should. At 3AM when I figured I should make the most of my insomnia I grabbed my Teach Yourself to Crochet kit that I bought in December to well teach myself to crochet. The book has lovely diagrams that mean nothing to someone who is not use to crocheting or knitting. The first two videos I watched on youtube gave me some ideas on how to hold my needle and how to make an easy slipknot. However, they kept getting to the pull and loopy thing in such a way that I was feeling slightly stupid and was getting ready to give up. Then I found the video below which instead of saying pull over and through said hey pull the left side over the right side and boom got your desired stitch. NO FREAKING IDEA why that tidbit of information helped out so much but Lord knows without it I'd be ready to figure out how to knit the lovely crimson and cream yarn into something with something as soon as I figured out what it was. Here's the video.
I did it enough times that I created a chain but of course I'm super slow right now to get it done right and haven't developed the next stitch. A tiny bit of accomplishment and no more tolerance for frustration tonight means no mas on the crocheting tonight/today.
I did want to say that the spot is feeling fuzzy like unrelaxed baby afro hair lol. We'll see how it looks on wash day. I think that's it for now.
At least some part of my brain must be stuck on that because at 5:30 I am no more tired than when I turned off my computer, I assumed for the night, at least 3 hours ago because the tennis match had not yet started. As it stands, the tennis match is almost 3 hours in, Novak and Andy have split sets and they remain on serve in the third. I also watched Beastly because Novak was frustrating me and I was hoping to fall asleep without the sounds of screeching sneakers in my ear. Alas that has not happened. Beastly wasn't too bad either. And much like I did with the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast, I was finding the beast side much more attractive than the prince. Nothing wrong with him at the end but he was more interesting as the cuts and bruises healed as he got to know and appreciate himself and those around him. If you know the story it's not a surprise how it turns out but it's a cute version.
I don't think I've mentioned it before but I have a skin condition that randomly flares, usually when I'm stressed, and is annoying because there's not a lot you can do about it. My sweat glands can get infected for lack of a better explanation and it's any of my sweat glands even though it tends to center under my arms and primarily the right arm. It's called hidradenitis suppurativa (or acne inversa since the swelling stays internal until it either goes away or breaks the skin) and it really didn't bother me till late middle school and HS. I tend to cover the swelling with band aids because as the skin puffs up it gets hot and the skin on skin contact can become VERY painful. Painkillers and antibiotics have been on tap the last few days and that may be messing up my sleep too. Minor interruption here, Novak just won the third yeah baby. I slept off and on all day today for no apparent reason. I say today, I mean Saturday. I'd be up watching tv or reading or something and before I knew it I'd wake up two hours later and would be super confused. I was also getting overheated which could be a reaction to my body fighting the inflammation. It's an annoying disorder and short of experimental treatment my only other options are to have the repeatedly infected areas surgically removed. Doesn't that sound pleasant?
I did wash my hair today. I'm convinced mom is going to make me leave the house and I really didn't want to be dealing with the birds nest on my head. I just let it dry straight and rolled the ends up on a flexirod before bed--well yeah haven't quite gotten there yet. Some hair loss on the detangle but not nearly as much as last week. I skipped the prepoo again too--last minute wash decisions tend to make me do that. Minor interruption here again, Murray looks tired as hell right now. I tried the LOC method today along with my normal 3 comb detangle. Except I did the cream before the oil. I do like the new oil mix I bought from Tropic Isle Living. The exact title is over under the random goodness tab. I have to change the channel now, I think I jinx Novak when I watch too long lol.
I was thinking earlier that I like to watch sports I'm bad at. I can't play tennis. I lost interest in basketball. And I'm too short to play volleyball after HS--had fun with that though. I'm probably the same size as most of the divas on WWE but that doesn't seem like the best career option. And I want to play with football players more than I want to PLAY football. It's never too late for me to learn how to play tennis I guess. I should work on adding more things to my self improvement list.
Okay gonna watch Hoodwinked Too and the rest of the match and hopefully I'll fall asleep soon. Have a good Sunday everyone.
Totally forgot to share the youtube clips I saw tonight that made me bust a gut. Thanks to Mommy Has a Potty Mouth and Ha Has for Hoo Has for sharing. Both can be found to the right under life is funny. One is a response to a nice facebook posting from a feminine hygiene product---I mean aren't you completely intrigued already.
And this one is an epic ASL (American Sign Language) final for class.
So I'm done for the day and I get a day of semi peace tomorrow. Talked to my brother and I may be able to skype with the nieces for a bit to see what they got from Santa Claus and see what lovely pictures my oldest niece has drawn on her new toy. Depending on how mom is behaving she can open her lump of coal gift card in front of them and give me another crappy gift lol. I took off the comment luv widget thingy. It didn't seem to come up for everyone all the time and comments magically stopped which was odd. Before I go one here's a Christmas goodie from youtube via Kellie at Delightfully Ludicrous. Please watch all 3 and half minutes, it may be the thing that stops you from drinking heavily before the day is out. Maybe not lol.
So I mentioned that I had scanned the net for pinup photographers and I bookmarked five of them to keep looking at over the course of the next six months at least. By June I'll know if I'm really gonna pull the trigger based on how my body makeover is progressing. One of the comments yesterday asked about them and I wanted to share them with you anyway because I'd love to hear who you think of as the best one if your eyes and why. Or if it's like I was thinking and it's a case of their all great and maybe one of them would just be better for what I'm thinking I want shot. So here they are in no particular order. If someone jumps out at you let me know cause I'd love feedback and the only other person I know that would care I kind of don't want to ever share the pictures with right now lol. I am thinking three or four different looks cause this will definitely be a present to myself. I'd love a kitchen set up cause I do like to bake (thus the partial reason for the name of this blog), old Hollywood glam since I just love the softness of the hair and the overall look, the flirty nerdy pinup look cause I'm a flirty nerd lol, and maybe a classic military inspired or cheesecake kind of pose. If you have any other suggestions let me know.
For the parents out there if you are looking for a new video or learning tool for your cutie pies you should check out Dino Lingo. It's apparently in SEVERAL different languages but my French is rusty so I only watched it in English. It's kind of in the vein of Dora the Explorer in that the friendly creatures (dinosaurs) go on random adventures together to explore the world. Except I really hated Dora after a while and these characters seem much more friendly. There was a little gap between the initial conversation the dinosaurs had but they were very friendly and had a good time as they explored together. The language is appropriate for youngsters and easy for them to follow along to while they watch. My initial thought was it may be more boy appropriate but for lack of a better phrase they are pretty cute dinosaurs that girls will like as well. Check it out below.
